The guy who did it (probably) had one of those plasticky bumper fake offroaders, that didn't do very good to the paint.

This is another reason I love my old Mercedes, people can rub up against my bumper all they like, its a rubber strip that shows nothing. I could replace it pretty easily but I've never had to. In SF people either get bumpers that are like pizza face or they get a lovely bumper protector (or they have cash and never parallel park and clearly have their own garage). Until I worked in the city all the time I never thought about it, I have always parked carefully and never even touched other cars, you know, get out or have the girl give me a distance to the cars. Now I know the world is full of arseholes and they just bump right it.

Nah, I'm 99% sure it was a Sandero Stepway (not good news), they have those rough plastic bumpers.
